CROPSAFE’s biorefinery partners featured in Renewable Carbon News

Three of CROPSAFE’s industrial partners — Borregaard, Alginor ASA, and Kaffe Bueno — are the subject of a new feature article published by Renewable Carbon News, the industry news platform run by the nova-Institute.

The article, The side-stream solution: how three Scandinavian biorefineries are helping reinvent crop protection, tells the story of how each biorefinery’s distinct feedstock and processing technology is contributing to CROPSAFE’s library of bioactive compounds. It covers Borregaard’s lignin-derived antinematicidal and antifungal compounds, Alginor ASA’s cascading filtration approach to unlocking the bioactive potential of Norwegian kelp, and Kaffe Bueno’s cascade biorefinery model for upcycling spent coffee grounds into high-value crop protection ingredients.

The piece also explores the regional biorefinery cluster concept — and what it could mean for scaling circular bio-based value chains across Europe.
